The Government has started an immersion programme to help jobless people above 40 restart their technology careers.

This is the first time age is spelt out for a scheme under the Infocomm Media Development Authority’s (IMDA) tech skills development and job placement initiative called TechSkills Accelerator.

IMDA and Workforce Singapore roped in seven start-ups as hirers for these mid-career professionals, managers, executives and technicians (PMETs). They include EverComm, PropertyGuru, Shopee, Trakomatic and Zalora. These companies will provide 30 temporary roles lasting up to six months in areas such as business development, product management and software development.

Mr Tan Choon Shian, chief executive of Workforce Singapore, said: “Mid-career PMETs are a valuable talent source, and companies should actively harness the experience and knowledge of this group to address their manpower and recruitment needs.”
